Hello, I’m Eleanor — a midwife, health visitor, trauma-informed practitioner, and the founder of Ebb & Bloom Perinatal Care.
I’ve spent over a decade walking alongside women and birthing people during some of life’s most powerful and vulnerable moments. I qualified as a midwife in 2013 and as a health visitor in 2016. Since then, I’ve specialised in trauma-informed care, working with families navigating pregnancy, birth, early parenting, and recovery after trauma. I’m currently completing a PhD exploring coercive control in the perinatal period — a subject close to my heart, and central to how I support others.
Ebb & Bloom was created to offer something different: care that is calm, consent-led, emotionally safe, and deeply attuned to your story. I believe that how we are supported in pregnancy, birth and beyond can shape not only our experience of becoming parents, but how we carry those memories forward.
My work is rooted in holistic practice, not medicalised models. I support home birth, natural birth, elective caesarean sections, and everything in between — always with respect, information, and space to make decisions that feel right for you.
I also bring personal experience as a mother of four, with lived understanding of birth, parenting, and navigating complex systems. I’ve supported many families affected by domestic abuse, coercive control, and neurodivergence, and while this is a specialist area of mine, you don’t have to have a history of trauma to benefit from trauma-informed care.
Ebb & Bloom is a place where you can feel gently held — not judged, rushed, or silenced. Whether you're looking for antenatal support, postnatal guidance, or simply someone who sees the whole you, I’m here to walk alongside you.
My work is grounded in a trauma-informed philosophy that centres emotional safety, trust, choice, and collaboration. I support women and birthing people through some of the most transformative and vulnerable stages of life — and I do so with care that honours the nervous system, values lived experience, and gently meets each person where they are.
Whether you’re preparing for birth, processing trauma, navigating complex parenting journeys, or simply seeking care that feels different — this is a space where you can feel seen, heard, and held without judgement.
The guiding principles that shape my practice are informed by both professional experience and the trauma-informed care framework developed by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration). These principles are embedded throughout every aspect of the support I offer.
I create a space where you can feel emotionally, physically, and psychologically safe, whether we’re meeting virtually or in person. From the tone I use to the pace we go, everything is shaped to help you feel calm and in control. You’ll never be rushed, judged, or made to share more than you want to.
I’m open about what I offer, how I work, and what to expect. There are no surprises, no pressure, and no hidden agendas. Building trust is a process, and I honour that with honesty, clear communication, and gentle consistency in how I show up.
As a mother of four, I bring lived experience alongside professional care. While our journeys may differ, I understand what it means to hold space for someone without trying to fix them. Sometimes, just being with someone who truly sees you is part of the healing.
You are the expert in your life. My role is to walk beside you, not direct your path. We’ll make decisions together, whether it's planning birth preferences, exploring support needs, or navigating early parenting. Consent, autonomy and flexibility are at the heart of everything I do.
I work from a place of respect - not rescue. My aim is to reflect your strengths back to you and offer support that builds confidence, not dependence. Whether you’re rebuilding after trauma or just finding your way through early motherhood, I will always hold your potential at the centre.
I recognise how systems, identity, and lived experiences shape how people access and receive care. I commit to anti-oppressive, inclusive practice, and I work sensitively with clients who’ve experienced gendered violence, marginalisation, or cultural barriers within the healthcare system.
